Windshield Replacement in Tampa, FL

Tampa drivers rack up windshield damage in ways that have a lot to do with the roads here. The I-275 and I-4 interchange sits in near-permanent construction, and loose aggregate off the back of a dump truck on the Selmon Expressway or Veterans is a common way to pick up a chip. Long bridge runs across the bay — the Howard Frankland, the Gandy, the Courtney Campbell — mean sustained highway speed with nothing to slow the debris down, and summer afternoon storms blowing in off the Gulf flex a cracked windshield further every time the glass heats and cools.

There is no Diamond AutoGlass shop in Tampa. Our mobile unit drives over from our Sanford base and handles the windshield replacement wherever the car is parked — a South Tampa driveway, a Westshore office lot, a Brandon apartment complex.

How it works

Three steps, we come to you

1

Tell us what broke

Send the form or call. Your VIN or plate gets us the exact glass for your vehicle, including whether it carries a camera, rain sensor or heating element.

2

We check your coverage first

Before anything is scheduled we confirm what your policy covers — or give you a straight cash price — so the price you hear is the price you pay. No claim is filed until you say go.

3

We come to you

Your driveway, your office lot, your job site — wherever the vehicle is. We fit the glass and tell you when it's safe to drive.

Insurance

Florida law is on your side here

Glass coverage sits in the comprehensive part of your policy — and we do the paperwork.

Glass claims in Florida

Florida law says a comprehensive policy issued in this state cannot apply its deductible to windshield replacement. If you carry comprehensive, a windshield normally costs you nothing out of pocket.

That applies to the windshield specifically. Door glass and back glass go through your ordinary deductible.

Call us with your policy number and we will check your coverage with you before you commit to anything — and give your carrier everything they need: the exact glass, the part numbers and a written quote.

Paying cash

Not going through insurance? You get a straight price up front, before any work starts — no surprises when the job is done.

Damage smaller than a dollar bill, out of the driver’s line of sight and away from the edge, can usually still be repaired — which is quicker, cheaper, and keeps the original factory seal. Once it spreads, it is a replacement, so it is worth calling early.

General information only, not advice about your policy — coverage depends on the policy you hold, so check with your carrier. We are an independent auto glass company and are not affiliated with or endorsed by any insurance company. Your choice of repair shop is yours to make.

Our warranty

Lifetime Warranty

In writing, in full, right here — not a claim with the terms hidden somewhere else.

LIFETIMEWARRANTY

Our Lifetime Warranty covers the labor on your installation. If a problem is caused by the way we installed your glass — such as a leak, wind noise, or loose trim — we will correct it at no charge to you. Just bring the vehicle back to us and we'll take care of the workmanship issue.

Questions

Frequently asked

What do you need from me to quote a windshield?

Year, make, model and body style to start, plus whatever is mounted on or behind the glass. Tell us if there's a camera at the mirror, a rain sensor, heating at the wiper park, an antenna in the glass, or a shaded band along the top — those decide which part your car takes. Describe where the damage sits and how big it is. Our line can't receive texts, so it's a phone or in-person conversation.

What happens to my old windshield and the trim around it?

The old glass is cut loose and taken away with the job unless you tell us before we start that you want to keep it. The old urethane isn't scraped to bare metal; it's trimmed back to a thin, even base, because fresh adhesive bonds best to it. Mouldings, cowl trim and clips come off to get the glass out, and some of those parts are made to be replaced rather than reused. We'll tell you when yours are.

Is my car safe to drive as soon as the glass is in?

Not the instant it's set. The urethane bonding the glass to the body has to reach enough strength to hold that glass in a crash, and the installer on your job gives you the exact safe drive-away figure for the adhesive used that day. Temperature, humidity and the specific product all move that number. Until you're cleared, leave the car parked, and when you do drive, crack a window before shutting a door so cabin pressure doesn't shove on fresh glass.

Can it get rained on or go through a car wash?

Rain is fine — the bond is sealed and weathertight before the car goes back to you. What we ask you to hold off on is a pressure washer or an automatic wash with brushes and high-pressure jets, which drive water straight at the glass edge and can lift fresh mouldings or tear retention tape. Hand washing, with the spray kept off the edges, is the safer route. Leave any tape where it is until your installer says it can come off.

What if something isn't right after the job?

Bring the car back to us and tell us exactly what you're seeing. Wind noise or a whistle at speed, water in a corner during heavy rain, a rattle out of the trim, a wiper that chatters across the new glass — we would much rather have the vehicle in front of us than guess at it. Tell us when it happens and what you were doing, because that points at the cause. Our line doesn't take texts, so call or come by.

Will filing a glass claim raise my rates?

Glass damage is handled under the comprehensive part of your policy, not collision or liability, and comprehensive claims are generally treated differently from an at-fault accident. Every carrier and policy is different, though, so your carrier is the one who can confirm it for yours. Either way, nothing is filed until you tell us to.

Should I use insurance or just pay cash?

In Florida, a comprehensive policy cannot apply a deductible to a windshield replacement, so for most drivers going through insurance costs nothing out of pocket. If you do not carry comprehensive, we will give you a straight cash price instead — and either way you get the number before any work starts.

Can my windshield be repaired instead of replaced?

Often, yes. Damage smaller than a dollar bill, outside the driver’s line of sight and away from the edge of the glass can usually be repaired rather than replaced. A repair is quicker, costs less, and keeps the original factory seal. Send a photo with your quote and we will tell you straight — including when it is the smaller job.
